History

The Pearsons saw great potential when they first surveyed a spectacular section of waterfront property on the east coast of Vancouver Island. Together with five partners, Andrew Pearson purchased the 15 acres of land, just south of Parksville BC, with the intention of developing it into upscale resort condominiums.

In 1991, Pacific Shores Resort launched the first sales of its new Vacation Ownership condominiums. The Pearsons were also pioneers in second home Fractional Ownership, launching a 1/10th interest in fee simple deeded real estate. All 50 shares sold out quickly and many of those original owners still enjoy five weeks per year at Pacific Shores.

By the year 2000, the Pearsons had purchased all interests in the company in order to expand to other locations. As the sole owners of Pacific Shores, the family envisioned a multi-destination real estate based vacation club that would give purchasers greater flexibility than traditional Vacation Ownership products. Their concept came to fruition in 2002 and Aviawest Resort Club was born. Since then, Aviawest has grown to include six properties in Vancouver, Sun Peaks, Ucluelet and Victoria.
